I found the Madonna tribute episode of ‘Glee’ to be among one of the most quotable of the season. Not only did characters like Sue Sylvester and Brittany have tons of quotable quips and such but the writers really found great ways to sum up why Madonna’s the megastar and icon that she is.

“MADONNA. Simply saying the word aloud makes me feel powerful, even in voice over! How I have worshiped her ever since I was a little girl! Sorry Angie Joie, Catherine the Great — Madonna is the most powerful woman ever to walk the Earth.” — Sue Sylvester

“What you call insanity, I call inspiration.” — Sue Sylvester

“WWMD – What would Madonna do? The answer to that question is usually date a younger man …” — Sue Sylvester

“Right, and it makes sense. Look at their [the girls in glee club] role models. You’ve got Britney Spears with her shaved head and Lindsay Lohan looking like something out of ‘Lord of the Rings’ … Ann Coulter.” — Emma Pillsbury

“Sloppy freakshow babies! Somewhere in the English country side in a stately manor home Madonna is weeping!” — Sue Sylvester

“Ah, well, Madonna is a legend. I want my girls to learn all the lessons she has to offer: strength, independence – nobody quite like the Material Girl to empower my Cheerios. Like your hair dresser’s empowered you to look absolutely ridiculous.” — Sue Sylvester to Will Schuester

“When I pulled my hamstring I went to a misogynist.” — Brittany, confusing misogynist with masseur

“Culturally, Madonna’s legacy transcends her music because by and large the subtext of her songs are about being strong, independent and confident no matter what your sex. But more than anything, Madonna’s musical message is about equality and that is something you guys need to work on.” — Will Schuester

“You’re about as sexy as a cabbage patch kid. Just looking at you is exhausting.” — Santana to Finn

“You don’t deserve the power of Madonna. You have none of her self confidence, her power over her body, or her sexual magnetism. Simply put, you have all of the sensuality of those pandas down at the zoo who refuse to mate.” — Sue Sylvester to Emma Pillsbury

“I’m pretty sure my cat’s been reading my diary.” — Brittany

“You can try dropping the attitude. I’m sure there’s a pound or two in that.” — Sue Sylvester to Mercedes
